Some of my Adventures

One great advantages of teaching in Thailand is the fact of it having so much to do and see. On many class outings the students learn so much about their own country and its beauty. A favorite attraction is one of the many Water Parks that are there and the Parks where the kids can interact with the animals. In the picture shown I am acting with the animals. It was a great experience and a lot of fun for the kids who also had a chance to do this and to feed a tiger. Thailand may have a very hot climate most of the time but there are a great many places where you can cool off. Most of the times on the class trips, the kids stay in the water. However, they really don't seem to mind the heat, unlike the foreigners who swealter in it. I for one enjoyed it very much

Water Tower in City

Hallandale Beach

Hallandale Beach
has a large water tower near the beach that can be seen from very far away.
I guess it has a special meaning for the people living in "The City of Choice." In fact the tower
is almost on the beach which is a very well kept area.

Young Pink

My pet slow lorris monkey

Ping
was a slow lorris monkey from the jungles of Northern Thailand. She was the cuties little thing you could have. However, she was vicious. She would eat pieces of banana, grapes and live geckos, lizards and crickets. she moved very slowly except when she saw something to eat. She was lots of fun and she used to stay in my shirt pocket where she slept most of the time. She roamed around the house when everyone was sleeping. During the day she would crawl under the plastic cover of my printer and sleep. She hated to be awakened and would make hissssing sounds. Here she is in my soap dish in the shower.

Happy Korean Students

Merry Christmas
I wish I could go to Ben's School
babygrump.jpg
When I am bigger I will go

I had the happiest class of Korean Students that any teacher could ever have. I also had the privilege of being featured on the cover of a Korean Magazine Showing me at work in one of my class rooms. The kids were a joy and I know that all of their parents were very happy they had me for a teacher. But, All good things eventually come to an end. I wish them all well.

Pride in What I Do

I take an enormous pride in knowing that I made a difference in the lives of so many foreign students
who had studied with me. I hope that you'll find great value in what I have to offer. I consider myself
among the best and I have proven it year in and year out. I swell up when I hear a former student
remark years later on what a great class we had in what ever subject we were learning. It gives me
a great feeling inside to know that they left with a good experience.

If you want special treatment for one thing or another all you have to do is to call or email and let me
know what you want.

We look forward to doing business with you. Tutoring during the school year is held everyday. We only
offer it within a 5 mile radius, taking in Broward County, Aventura, and the Northern part of Dade County
However, other areas may be considered. Tutoring can be done at your home, the local library (with their
permission) or where ever it may be convinient for the student. My rates are reasonable.

A Little About Me

Mr. Ben as I am  known to my students is a world class traveller, teacher, inventor, artist and educator. I retired from the educational field a few years GO but I still have that fire inside me to teach. I had graduated from New Jersey City University with a BA Degree in Elementary and Special Education and Sussex college of Technology with an MEd.in Administration. I had also attended several other colleges and universities to sharpen my skills as an educator. I am also a certified Legal Assistant, computer expert and have vast experience in Small Engine Repairs.

I taught just about all of the primary and elementary grades, mostly 4th., 5th., and 6th. I had also completed many hours of training with the American Red Cross and became a certified Water Safety Instructor. First Aid Instructor and I know CPR. I have an earned ESL (English as a Second Language) Certificate and a TEFL (Teacher of English as a Foreign Language) Certificate. I have a pattern for a swimming devise that I had invented also. I won several art painting contests and was awarded the Service to Youth by the YMCA and the Senior Little League Baseball Association. I have several commendations from my military leaders for my work with the children on the Army post where I was stationed.

My overseas teaching experience has taken me to England where I worked in a residential school setting, Kuwait, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey, the Netherlands and Italy. Many other countries were visited during my school vacations, too many to list. Perhaps, just one. I went on a Safari in Kenya; the greatest vacation I ever took.

Students who study with me will come away with a wealth of knowledge about many different events. All just love listening to the stories I have to tell. Students who come on a residential study program will be afforded the best education and experience ever. They will be treated like one of the family and will be served the best foods available all provided by my artistic chef Italian sister. Her meals are the greatest. She learned to cook from my mother who was in a class all by herself. With 9 mouths to feed she had to be an artist and a magician. All of the children in the family learned to cook from my mother. However, my sister who will be the chief chef came away with the best education as far as making a meal is concerned. The interior of our condo is immaculate and well decorated. One always feels at home in our place and will be treated as one of the family. Students will sleep two to a room with loads of closet space. They will have some time on the computer and use of the house. Much more computer time can be had for free at the local library.

A break from teaching

Teaching in Thailand

After an Exhausting Day in Class

My first job in Thailand was with the Assumption College in Bangkok. It was supposed to be one of the most prestigeous schools in all of Thailand, next to Bangkok Christian College. There were over 6,000 students in the school from grades 1 to 6 with as many as 10 of the same grades. There was also a waiting list a mile long for students waiting to get in. I was responsible for teaching grades 5 and 6 where there were over 600 students. My job at that time was to teach English coversation to kids who really didn't want to learn. Many can from very wealthy families and were already set for life. the classes at times were like a circus.
However, for some strange reason the kids (all boys ) liked me and we got along just fine.
